This is my first video blog. I will dedicate it to my hometown——ChongQing. It is the sister city of Toronto.
In this video, I will talk about my hometown’s famous sights and cultural customs very briefly.
However, this video is only a tip of the iceberg. I will provide more beautiful sceneries and traditional food in my future blogs.

Thanks for sharing your hometown with us Celine! Looks like ChongQing is beautiful, and the plans for the future look like they will be spectacular once completed. What are some of the biggest changes you’ve noticed in ChongQing from when you were a child growing up to how the city is now?

Thanks for your support John. In the past 20years, great changes have taken place in my hometown, like transportation, international cooperation. Chongqing is the sister city of Toronto since 1986. My favourite change is the improvement of environment. When I was a child, my hometown is a industrial city. There was many pollution sources. But now, people focus on the forest ecosystem.

Celine, I didn’t know you were from Chongqing! Even though your city has almost 30 million people living in the municipality, I doubt the average Canadian has heard about your hometown. Your video has made me want to visit one day. And because it’s near Sichuan, I can’t wait to eat my all my favourite Sichuan dishes.

Wow, I don’t know you like Sichuan dishes Geoff! Some of my Canadian friends do not like spicy food at all. But every one in my hometwon like spicy food! Actually Chongqing was a part of Sichuan province before, so we have similar dishes and dietary habit.

Celine, wonderful vlog! Your hometown looks quite spectacular. The transport system looks unreal, and the scenery – breathtaking. I am sure you must miss being surrounded by such natural beauty!

Thank you Katie. Yes, I miss it badly! But I love Toronto as well~~ haha
Transport system is interesting in ChongQing. My hometown is a mountain city, so almost all of our subways are in the air instead of under the ground.

Your hometown is absolutely breathtaking Celine. Thank you for introducing it to us. Personally, usually when I hear of China, I just think about Beijing and the other areas that are normally featured in the media. But after this video I think my visit to China should be to ChongQing. I must add that it doesn’t seem ChongQing is affected by the smoke from the factories, am I wrong or right in thinking so?

Actually, you are right Alicia. ChongQing was affected by the smoke because it was the industrial city. But now the situation has changed. We destroyed factories many years ago and focused on “Forest ChongQing” 🙂

Welcome to Chongqing to continue your “Au Pair” Program Yuliya~~
We have around 55 Universities/Colleges. Almost all of them accept international students. I think the best choice for international student in my hometown is “Sichuan International Studies University”. One of my friend was a student in here. He was from Canada. And he told me that this University was great, and international students could apply Scholarship easily.

What a beautiful city to call your hometown Celine! Are there any similarities between Chongqing and Toronto? If not, what do you miss most about your hometown?

I think buildings and people are similar. Like downtown of Toronto, ChongQing has tall buildings everywhere. And sometime I don’t have homesick at all because Toronto’s people are so friendly. Llike you guys are always willing to help others. It makes me feel that I am at home.

Thank you Zoe! There are two rivers run through ChongQing.
The interesting things is: these two river, one is green, another is yellow. At the “ChaoTianMen” Wharf, you can see they join together but separate from each other due to different colors

Celine, when several month back you showed me your hometown on the pictures, I was absolutely impressed by it beautifulness. But now I event can’t select the right words to describe my feelings, it’s unbelievably amazing! It combines technology and nature, which is rare nowadays. And as far as I know from your stories it has such an unbelievable location, so all significant and worth visited places are located nearby ☺ Now I’m totally sure that it’s worth visiting, but only the time when you are there, because I feel like there are just a few people who like it the same way like you ☺
